When it is fired in a Glock 32, in disguise of the .357 Sig. I have always wondered about the .357 Sig. I have heard great things about it, like the ability to push a 125 grain bullet out of the barrel of a semi automatic at over 1300. feet per second, nipping at the heels of the .357 Magnum ballistics (especially if it's a magnum revolver with a four inch or shorter barrel). Well, I had to try one... our good family friend Glen has a decent gun collection, and we meet at the annual open house as we have done for years. past. Glen is like family so when he offered some of his guns for me to shoot I jumped at the chance. in .357 Sig caliber.
So, before we get into the specifics of the gun (let's face it - Glocks aren't very bright to shoot, especially the Gen 3 models, so I won't spend too many words explaining that), let's... Let's get things real quick. see where the .357 Sig cartridge comes from and a little of its history.
.357 Sig (so named by SAAMI, or .357 SIG by its international equivalent SAAMI, C.I.P.) is the product of a business partnership between SIG-Sauer and the Federal Cartridge company. Introduced in 1994, the .357 Sig was the first bottleneck cartridge introduced since the 1960s. It is based on a .40 S&W case necked down to accept .355 (9mm) caliber bullets. The idea of cutting down a pistol cartridge case to accept a smaller diameter bullet is not new. Several other bottleneck cartridges were introduced before or after the .357 Sig, including the .400 Corbon in 1996 and the .256 Winchester Magnum in 1960 to name a couple. The .357 Sig has garnered attention as an accurate, hard-hitting round. Law enforcement and the skilled smugglers who carry it are impressed by its ballistics. Here is the SAAMI diagram of the cartridge... Note that the diameter of the bullet is .355, not .357, as the name would imply.

The .357 Magnum: A Useful And Exciting Cartridge
One of the main reasons the .357 Sig was developed was to duplicate the velocity of the 125-grain .357 Magnum bullet but from a 4-inch autoloader barrel. This 125-grain .357 Magnum load is famous on the street for its ability to stop threats with very few shots, so the power is expected to have the same stopping power in an autoloader with its companion and large ammo capacity. This was accomplished by the introduction of the .357 Sig. The Texas Department of Public Safety issued, in 1996, a SIG Sauer P226 in .357 Sig to its officers. This is the first implementation of this cartridge by a government agency that I can find. After swinging back to the 9mm pistol for a short time, the Texas DPS suspended the 9mm again after some reliability issues arose. At that point, they went back to the .357 Sig. To my knowledge, the Secret Service, Federal Air Marshals and at least 26 police or other government agencies issue either Sig or Glock pistols chambered in .357 Sig. The number fluctuates, but suffice it to say that this agency is sold in the natural stopping power in this round, and the appropriate ammunition. I read the report of one of our officers who stated that, when shot with .357 Sig, a large, ferocious dog will go down with one shot as opposed to needing several rounds of 9mm 147 grain ammo. Even if it's not the person being shot, the idea is the same... stop the threat as quickly as possible. You see ... it was an effective round, or else the whole police department would not have issued it.
Well, now that we've seen where the .357 Sig comes from...let's look at the gun in the hand that shoots it...the Glock 32 model.
The Glock 32 is a compact package that deftly delivers the .357 Sig payload. The one I shot came with three 10-round magazines instead of 13-rounds, but it was listed as stock the day it came out of the box. That's fine with me – the gun is shot a lot.

The Glock 32 was introduced around 1996, a few years after the .357 Sig cartridge came out. First made in the full-size Model 31, the Model 32 came later with a 13-round capacity and a half-inch shorter barrel than its larger cousin. Obviously Glen's was destined for a limited magazine capacity situation, with its three 10 round magazines but otherwise it was a standard Gen 3 Model 32.

Here's something you like... if you already have, say, a Glock 23 in .40 S&W, you can buy an aftermarket barrel in .357 Sig and basically have two guns based on one frame. I checked some prices, and about $ 140 you can get a barrel in .357 Sig and take advantage of your shooting experience. Your .40 magazine will even work, since the .357 Sig is based on a .40 S&W neck-down case. Even some 10mm weapons are candidates for conversion, as the cartridge is based on an additional .40 S & W. You may need to buy a new magazine ... those of you who have direct experience with this, please comment below. If you have a compatible host caliber firearm, the addition of a .357 Sig conversion barrel allows you to expand your caliber inventory at minimal cost.
Shooting any compact Glock is an experience, especially if it is chambered for a bump cartridge. I had a model 30 once - this is the ci .45 ACP. It has a pronounced recoil, but is controllable and easy to shoot. With handloads of my target level, it's a cat. this gun, not so much. Those of you who own a 32 will probably agree with me that the recoil level is about as much as you want in a small gun. Mind you, I'm not saying the gun is a firecracker â far from it â but it does let you know when you pull the trigger. If all you shoot is a Glock 9mm, then this is it
